4th Mar 2019
On February 12, 2019, Carolyn Holbrooks was honored with the American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero Award and the Stop Heart Attack Lifesaving Award during a special ceremony at Dawson Church in Homewood, AL.
Recently, Holbrooks was working at a local dental office when one of the guests began severely choking in the waiting area. Immediately Holbrooks sprung into action and used the choking relief technique she learned during her CPR AED course with CPR instructor Debbie Moss at Dawson Church. Thankfully, patient survived and is doing well. "The training works; I believed before, but now I've seen," said Holbrooks.
Rusty Lowe, Brad Skiff, Stephanie Douglas, and Brady McLaughlin, all of Stop Heart Attack, were on-hand to present the award.
The American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero Award is presented on behalf of Trio Safety CPR+AED for the heroic actions provided by anyone that helps strengthen the Chain of Survival during a life-or-death emergency. Additionally, the Stop Heart Attack Lifesaving Award recognizes an individual who courageously acted as part of the Chain of Survival to help save a life of another by using lifesaving knowledge, skills, and abilities.
